Get involved! Find a poetry event near you. Bring CWA to your school or event. Attend our Under 21 Friday Open-Mic or  David & Goliath Slam! CWA celebrated 5 years in 2009! We could think of no better way to celebrate than the premier of Russell Simmons Presents: Brave New Voices. CWA partnered with YouthSpeaks (San Francisco) to bring the National Youth Slam to our area in 2008. That Festival gave birth to a new HBO series dedicated to telling the story of youth spoken word. Check it out!

CWA is the home of the Maryland Youth Slam Team. We are Prince George's County's first performance poetry organization for youth and young adults. Our programs use spoken word poetry to inspire change.    Our mission is to serve area youth   through programs and to shape tomorrow's civic leaders. CWA youth poets work to meet social needs in Prince George's County and beyond. <!--[if !vml]--><!--[endif]-->
